First Day Procedures (Thursday, August 14th 8:15 a.m. to 2:38 p.m.)
To ensure a smooth and welcoming start to the school year, we have established clear procedures for the first day.
The Densmore and Septo Gates will open at 7:45 a.m. Teachers will be on the playground holding signs with their names and room numbers.
Students will line up with their assigned teachers in the following designated areas:
* K students should enter the kindergarten yard through the Densmore Gate. Parents are welcome to join their K child on the yard on the first day of school only, so that they may meet their child’s teacher. For safety reasons, parents may not enter campus on other school days.
* Grade 1 students and their parents should arrive at the auditorium between 7:45- 8:10 a.m. At 8:10 a.m., families will exit the auditorium and head to the lunch tables to meet the 1st grade teachers. Each table will be color-coded and labeled with a teacher’s name. A large poster at each table will list the names of the students assigned to that teacher. Families should locate their child’s name and have their student sit at the corresponding table. While waiting, students may begin eating breakfast. At 8:30 a.m., an announcement will be made for parents to leave so that the school day can begin. Parents will not accompany students to the classrooms.
* Grades 2 students should report to the primary yard through the Densmore Gate.
* Grades 3-5 students should go to the upper yard through the Septo Gate.
★ If you have children in multiple grade levels, feel free to enter through either gate.
★ All staff members will have rosters available to help direct Grades 1-5 students to their assigned teacher and classroom if assistance is needed. This organized approach helps students feel confident and secure as they begin their new academic journey.
